| The first in a series I call Wobbowls; as in "Weebles Wobble but they don't fall down". This was among the pieces turned during two days of live turning demos that I did at the Long Island Woodworkers show the end of October. It was turned green (wet) and I let it move however it wished. The show attendees enjoyed getting splashed with the water and chips and were amazed at just how wet "wet wood" is. Thanks to my friend, Don, for sharing his birch haul I now consider birch among my favorites to work with and am looking for more. I do have a few more blanks from this small log so look for more pieces soon. The grain patterns, inclusions and chatoyance are amazing in this piece (ergo the large number of detail photos on this item). The bowl was turned with a round bottom and gently rocks (wobbles) when put down. The finish is a lengthy process of 6 coats Bush Oil and a dozen coats of wipe-on poly with drying/curing time and sanding between all coats. Please note that while poly is a durable finish there are worm holes and spalting in this piece. It is not recommended that this bowl (or any of my pieces) be exposed to liquids. |

A Note About Prices
As an artist, I should not be afraid to display the price of an item in my gallery. The items I have available for sale clearly list the price rather than burdening the buyer with an annoying "inquire" in place of the price. Once a piece is sold I will move it to my Portfolio.
As a collector of art, I find it extremely annoying that I have to wade through fancy flash "galleries" only to find out that I need to contact the artist to find out if a piece is available and what the price is.
What about custom orders?
Q: I really like the design of one Trufful™ but I'd like a different color or wood. Can I request a custom made Trufful™?
A: Art is very personal, and no two pieces of wood are the same. There is no guarantee that, after filling your order, you would be happy with the piece. I want you to be delighted with your Trufful™ so, while I will not accept custom orders, I will happily take all suggestions for designs.
