Mulberry (Domestic - Local)
Dimensions: 4"w x 3.75"h 1/16" wall thickness

This piece is from the same stock as my Mulberry Vase and Bowl.

The bowl sold in 24 hours so I felt compelled to come up with a new one. This wood is fun to work with. It is very wet and bright buttery yellow.

I turned this pot from start to finish in one session. As you can see it is very translucent and light. The wall thickness is a mere 1/16th of an inch, perhaps thinner in a spot or two. Light clearly shines through this piece. See Details 3 & 4 above to see how light shimmers through the walls. Detail 2 has a slight pink cast from the light shining through it.

As with the other pieces from this branch, the pitch (growth ring center) is not centered in the middle. It gives a bit of an illusion as to where the center of the bowl is. see Detail 2 above to see this. Note: while the pith is showing slight checking, these have been treated and merely enhance the piece.

It is sanded to 12,000 grit, has three coats of hand rubbed shellac and is buffed with carnuba wax. As with all items finished with shellac, you should avoid allowing this piece to come in contact with any alcohol as it will reactivate the shellac.

I still have a bit left of this wood so expect to see one or two more pieces in the gallery soon.

A Note About Prices

As an artist, I should not be afraid to display the price of an item in my gallery. The items I have available for sale clearly list the price rather than burdening the buyer with an annoying "inquire" in place of the price. Once a piece is sold I will move it to my Portfolio.

As a collector of art, I find it extremely annoying that I have to wade through fancy flash "galleries" only to find out that I need to contact the artist to find out if a piece is available and what the price is.

What about custom orders?

Q: I really like the design of one Trufful but I'd like a different color or wood. Can I request a custom made Trufful?

A: Art is very personal, and no two pieces of wood are the same. There is no guarantee that, after filling your order, you would be happy with the piece. I want you to be delighted with your Trufful so, while I will not accept custom orders, I will happily take all suggestions for designs.
