Globe: Locust (Domestic - local) hollowed
Cap & Finial: Osage Orange (Domestic)
Dimensions: 7.50" x 2.25"

Locust is considered an invasive species & "junk". All through the town I group up in (St. James) the very equally spaced massive Locust trees along 25A started in those positions as fence posts that took root.

It is a very hard wood and dulls tools quickly, but, it is a beautiful wood! The heart wood flickers between greens and yellows and the sap wood is white to greenish-white. Darker spots can appear but do not detract from the wood. The grain can show deep lustrous, almost holographic shimmer.

The globe is from the same piece of wood as truf00032008

Osage Orange is extremely similar to Locust in texture and workability. The color ranges from extreme neon yellow to dark mustard. As with Locust, the grain has very deep luster. This wood accepts a glass-like finish.

This was the second Trufful™ of the day from the same Locust so I stuck with the theme of candy.

A Note About Prices

As an artist, I should not be afraid to display the price of an item in my gallery. The items I have available for sale clearly list the price rather than burdening the buyer with an annoying "inquire" in place of the price. Once a piece is sold I will move it to my Portfolio.

As a collector of art, I find it extremely annoying that I have to wade through fancy flash "galleries" only to find out that I need to contact the artist to find out if a piece is available and what the price is.

What about custom orders?

Q: I really like the design of one Trufful but I'd like a different color or wood. Can I request a custom made Trufful?

A: Art is very personal, and no two pieces of wood are the same. There is no guarantee that, after filling your order, you would be happy with the piece. I want you to be delighted with your Trufful so, while I will not accept custom orders, I will happily take all suggestions for designs.
